Art Hernandez – Facilities Maintenance Worker

Art is currently an on-call employee who takes on special projects in maintenance. Art shows up and steps in to help MRWH out with projects that needed to be completed during times where we do not have the internal resources. Art owned the project of moving Blue Thunder Lodge, a residential program into the vacant group home. The move involved getting the vacant group home “to do” list prior to acquiring the licensure as well as

coordinate the move. Art made sure that the move was completed within the time frame needed which meant late nights and weekend work. As a previous employee for MRWH, (youth crisis case manager), Art always approaches his job with enthusiasm, creating joy to those who work with him. He is a wonderful ambassador for our agency and has demonstrated continuously his ability to represent MRWH in a manner that facilitated good

will with our community partners, neighbors, and stakeholders. More recently, MRWH struggled with a neighbor for one of our group homes, he again showed up and stepped in to build a fence and covey a sense of respect to the concerned neighbors. Art demonstrates that individual’s matter, advocating for the client and employees in providing a safe environment. In the spring, he noticed that the tires were wearing down and no longer safe. Within the same week, he worked with maintenance to get new tires on the vehicle. He approaches his job in a calm, inquisitive manner, actively communicating with team members and verifying his approach to the job.”
